This Friday and the Q&A

The THESIS school year has went by quickly and we find ourselves at the end of co-op meetings this Friday.

Yes, we will meet for classes this Friday, starting with 12:45 announcements. Maybe you cannot come this Friday? If so, you may want to check with your child's teachers to see if there is work for you to pick up.

On another subject, check out this video (clicking the link will take you to youtube to view the video, because I can't get it to embed, for some reason...grrr):

If you homeschool, you've had this conversation

Whether or not you have experienced this or something like it, you probably have some homeschooling questions (or know someone who does), OR you are a veteran homeschooling parent who can help others who need some wisdom and encouragement.

We are have a homeschooling Q&A at Trinity this Saturday, April 27th, at 10:00 am in the cafe area.

Anyone who wants to attend is welcome, so please invite your friends and family to come and learn more about this exciting lifestyle!

(Please note that drinks will be available, but no snacks or food will be served. Childcare is the responsibility of individual families.)

The annual CHEWV Conference is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2013, at our very own Trinity Assembly of God.

Have you heard anything about it? If you didn't read the handout that was attached to your recent THESIS newsletter, or if you have been living under a rock, then you don't know what is going on at all, do you?

This year the focus is on writing. (Please, do not groan! It'll be fun!)

Click here to find out details.

Click here to read about the featured speaker.

Click here to learn about the Saturday workshops.

And, click here to find out about registration.

**Please Note:  If you want to register online, you have until May 4th (and you get a discount!). After that, registration is only accepted on site at the event.**

Another important note:  Childcare is not available, and there are no programs for children during the regular conference. You will need to make arrangements for childcare prior to this event, or plan to keep your children 12 and under with you at all times during the conference. Children who attend will be charged an admission fee.

Book Review: "The Toothpaste Millionaire," by Jean Merrill

If you like to read books that are fun and educational, this one is a great choice.

This is a story about Rufus Mayflower and how he became a millionaire, with a lot of help from his friends.

He doesn't set out to get rich; he just wants to save money on toothpaste. How his economizing turns into something bigger than anyone imagined, and what happens as a result, makes for an enjoyable read—as well as a good exercise in basic math and economics.

Originally published in 1972, the content is very safe to read aloud, and the flow of the writing will have your kids asking for, "Just one more chapter, please!"

How about you? If you have read a book recently that you think others will enjoy, feel free to share you comments below.

Homeschool blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

I hope your week is off to a great start. It was beautiful today, so the NASA workshop attendees were able to go outside and fly some model planes. It looked like spring but felt like winter. It was still a helping of fun. With red noses on the side.

Some of us blogging homeschoolers are doing a blog hop during the month of April. If this is your first year of homeschooling, or if you know someone who wants to homeschool, why don't you have them check out our posts?

Today's topic is "A Day in the Life." We'll be posting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the remaining topics are:

  • How do you organize your day?
  • Why or how did you get started?
  • Homeschooling styles and/or curriculum choices
  • What didn't work for you?
  • My biggest frustration . . .
  • How do I feel about socialization?
  • Blogger's choice

Clockwise from top left:

Lorrie @ Life and Lessons Learned,
Selena (that's me) @ Campbell Clan,
Kathleen @ Positive Adoption,
Audrey @ Everything Beautiful,
Charli @ WV Urban Hippies,
Tracey @ Building My House, and
Maria @ The Joyfully Frugal Home

If you happen to be a fellow blogger, feel free to jump on board and blog with us on these topics. Just link to this post so others can follow the rest of the bloggers.

If you are not a blogger, but you are interested in starting one, I am happy to help you. It's free, and it is easy, once you get the hang of it. Just contact me (Selena Campbell), and I'll help you get up and running.

See you for classes this Friday! Hard to believe we only have four more meetings left, isn't it?
