Scholastic Book Clubs

Sometimes the right book is all it takes to nurture a child's love of reading.

That's why THESIS is pleased that our co-op will be participating in Scholastic Book Clubs this school year.

Book Club flyers will be available each month with books for every age and reading level.

At this time THESIS will only accept online orders.

When you place your order online, you'll help to earn FREE books for our THESIS library and you also get a $5 FREE Book Pick Coupon to use toward your next online order.

Ordering online is fast and easy:

  • REGISTER at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs
  • ENTER the Class Activation Code for THESIS --> M2NYL
  • CHOOSE from the selection of print and e-books
  • SUBMIT the order

Orders will be delivered to Angela Oxford, the THESIS coordinator for our Scholastic Book Club. She will bring them to THESIS for distribution, once they are delivered to her.

Again, only ONLINE orders are accepted at this time.

Please contact Angela Oxford at oxfordx4 (at) yahoo (dot) com, and put "THESIS Scholastic" in the subject line.

Inclement Weather Policy

roads,seasons,snows,transportation,weather,winter,trees,nature

Well, if the NOAA website is to be believed, we will be buried in snow tomorrow!

In case of bad weather, you can click here to check for Marion County school closings.

You can click here to subscribe to notifications via text message or email, whatever your preference. You want to select MARION county (regardless of where you live) because THESIS meets in Marion County.

If Marion county closes school, then THESIS testing will not be held that day. If this ends up being both Wednesday and Thursday, we will make up testing next week, starting with Monday, March 11, at 8:30 a.m.

On another note, this Friday we have a very special deal that has graciously been offered to THESIS families. Beginning at noon on this Friday, March 8, we can skate at Skate A Way for $1.00 per skater (you do not have to pay, if you are not skating). Click here for contact info and directions.  This field trip is not dependent upon the weather forecast, so you are welcome to come out and skate, even if we don't make it back for testing the rest of the week.

Testing Starts Tomorrow

academic,classes,courses,education,examinations,forms,ovals,pencils,schools,shades,shading,standardized,tests
Beginning tomorrow, all test takers need to report to the fellowship hall at Trinity by 8:30 a.m. Here are some reminders:

1. Bring two #2 pencils for each child, and some scratch paper.

2. No electronics are permitted in the testing classrooms. Any students who bring them will be asked to surrender them during testing. Please have your child leave his/her phone, etc., with you.

3. Bring a great snack and, if desired, a lunch to eat once testing is finished (around noon).Only water may be taken to the classrooms for testing. No other drinks or food are allowed outside of the fellowship hall.

4. If you are a mom waiting for your child to finish, and you don't have a testing "assignment," please bring a book, or your notebook computer (there is free wireless at church), and/or some toys and things to keep your little ones occupied while testing is going on.

5. Please remember that all parents are responsible for the safety of their children with regard to playing and snacks/lunches. If your child has allergies, please make sure that they don't eat from any "community" snacks that are set out in the fellowship hall. No snacks will be given to students by test administrators. They will provide appropriate breaks where the children can retrieve their own snacks.

6. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly...relax! Testing is only as stressful as you make it! Yes, some children react negatively to testing, but our behavior plays a big part in how our children experience it. Treat it as something fun--a change in routine!--and your child will go into it with a better attitude than if they feel the world will shift its axis based on their test results.

7. No THESIS classes this Friday. Testing will run from Tuesday through Thursday, Lord willing and weather-permitting, with our Friday fun day being at Skate Away this year.

Any additional question or concerns? Please contact us and we'll be glad to help!

Blessings!
