Thursday & Friday Reminders

Hello Everyone!

If you signed up to go on the middle school field trip for THIS THURSDAY (10/4) to Cooper's Rock, please note that we will meet at the big parking lot by the main pavilion at 11:00 am.

Mr. Bob Johnson, geologist, will do a rock walk with middle school students that day--and the weather looks like it will cooperate!

To get to Cooper's Rock, take I-68 Exit 15, and then follow the signs. The park is beautiful and fun for hiking (on clearly marked trails) and picnicking, in case you want to plan accordingly.

We are back to class schedule this Friday! You know the drill by now -- wear appropriate clothing for gym activities, bring only water to drink.

Mr. Bledsoe is a candidate for the House of Delagates, and he will be speaking to us during announcements this Friday, and also to the Group D Elections class and the Group F Leadership class. Don't forget to come up with some great questions to ask Mr. Bledsoe while he is with us.

Finally, if you signed up to bring apples or corndogs for Trinity's Harvest Fest this Saturday, October 6th, be sure to bring them in THIS Friday -- the Harvest Fest is the following evening!

Junior High WV History Class -- Can you help?

Dear Families of Junior High students,

It is my pleasure to delve into West Virginia History with your kids and mine
this year!  I have learned a few things about my adopted state, and I will know a whole lot more when we finish this course.  We all will!

Here's how I could use some help:  Do you or yours have any stories about life in West Virginia that could be shared with the students?  Farming, coal mining, growing up stories that may be in your family history may seem commonplace to you but would really enhance our class time.  Please consider coming in to share anything West Virginian with this class!

Another way to help: please send in the research report your child did last year in writing class.  I would like to have these shared aloud with the class.

Lastly, on Friday September 7, Coal Country Mini-Golf is open at 3 pm and is
giving us $1 off admission to play after our THESIS day.  If you have not played here, you'll like that every hole is constructed from coal mining equipment! This will be a fun way to kick off our class!

Warmly,
Liz DeRoos, for THESIS

Pizza and beverages will be provided.

There will be a scavenger hunt for the kids, which is always a fun time.

There will also be another opportunity for you to purchase tickets for the raffle of two Thirty-One bags, which are $1.00 per ticket. The proceeds of this raffle will go toward a scholarship fund for THESIS members.

We will be meet in the fellowship hall of Trinity, so feel free to park on that side of the church.
